CF Montréal Begins West Coast Road Trip Wednesday in Seattle
June 28, 2022 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Club de Foot Montreal News Release
SEATTLE, Washington - CF Montréal (8-6-2) will play the first of two games on the U.S. West Coast this Wednesday at 10pm EDT against the Seattle Sounders (7-6-2) at Lumen Field (TVA Sports, TSN, 91.9 Sports, TSN 690).
Third in the Eastern Conference standings after 16 games, CF Montréal leads the East's offensive production with 30 goals, including seven scored by defenders and six by substitutes.
Wednesday's matchup will be a rare clash against the two-time MLS Cup champions (2016, 2019) and recent Concacaf Champions League winners following their win over Pumas UNAM of Liga MX, 5-2 on aggregate and 3-0 at home in the return leg at home on May 4.
The match will be the first meeting between the two clubs in over three years (Montreal 2-1 Seattle) and the first game in Seattle since March 31, 2018 (Seattle 0-1 Montreal).
The Montrealers hold a 5-2-1 overall record against their opponents. The record in Seattle is 2-1-0 with two goals scored and one goal conceded. Among Wilfried Nancy's roster, Kei Kamara boasts the best offensive numbers with four goals in 15 games against the Sounders, while Romell Quioto has one goal and one assist in three games.
Seattle is currently holding onto the seventh and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Brian Schmetzer's team has lost only one of its last seven games.
