Centorame Named Captain

The Owen Sound Attack is pleased to announce that veteran defenseman Santino Centorame has been named the 21st Captain in Owen Sound Franchise history.

The 19 year old defenseman is in his third season with the Attack after being acquired in January of 2014 and is having a breakout season, tallying 15 points in 16 game thus far.

"Through his actions on and off the ice, Santino has turned into a great player and a great leader for us.", said Head Coach Ryan McGill. "He leads by example, maintains a positive attitude and is really looked up to by his teammates."

A native of Mississauga, Centorame joined the Attack in January of 2014 along with Kyle Platzer in a trade that saw forward Gemel Smith head to the London Knights. The 5'11 rearguard has suited up in almost 150 career regular season games, notching 63 points and a +19 rating.

"It's a great feeling to be named Captain.", says Centorame. "Looking at the wall of captains in our dressing room and around the rink, there is some pretty impressive names. To be included in that list and to have the trust of your coaches and teammates is a true honor.", concluded Centorame.

The Attack also named their Assistant Captains. Forwards Jaden Lindo and Bryson Cianfrone will wear 'A's', along with defensemen Damir Sharipzyanov and Thomas Schemitsch.

Cianfrone was the Captain of the Mississauga Steelheads during the 2014/2015 campaign, while Jaden Lindo spent time as an Assistant Captain with the Attack last season. For Sharipzyanov and Schemitsch, this is their first opportunity to serve as Assistant Captains.

"With the youth on our team, it is very important to surround those players with strong role models who are professionals on and off the ice and that's what we have done here with this group.", said McGill of his Assistant Captains.

Centorame, Cianfrone, Sharipzyanov, Schemitcsch and Lindo have a combined 725 OHL Regular Season games played.
