Sudbury Wolves News Release

The Sudbury Wolves fell 6-3 to the Ottawa 67's on Sunday Afternoon. A strong 67's powerplay proved to be the difference in the contest.

The Wolves got off to a good start in the contest as CHAD HEFFERNAN skated down the wing and fired one past the 67's goalie to open the scoring. BEN GARAGAN set up the opening marker. Following the goal, the Wolves found themselves in penalty trouble. DMITRY SOKOLOV received a 5-minute major and a game misconduct for a check to the head. The 67's scored one goal on the extended powerplay and added another powerplay marker on the next Wolves infraction to take a 2-1 lead. ZACK BOWMAN made some big saves to keep his team down by just 1 after 20 minutes. Shots on goal were 16-9 in favour of the 67's.

Ottawa continued to take advantage of powerplay opportunities in the 2nd period as Stepan Falkovsky scored Ottawa's third powerplay goal of the game just three minutes into the period. The Wolves were able to answer with a powerplay goal of their own courtesy of PATRICK MURPHY. The overaged defenceman scored a nice goal from the slot with assists by DANNY DESROCHERS and CONOR CUMMINS. Before the end of the period Travis Konecny sprung Dante Salituro who made no mistake on the breakaway to give the 67's a 4-2 lead. After the 2nd, shots were 34-12 for Ottawa.

The Wolves scored early in the 3rd period to pull within one. JACOB HARRIS put home the Wolves 3rd goal from MATT SCHMALZ and CHAD HEFFERNAN. The 67's then iced the game with two goals, 10 seconds apart. Jeremiah Addison added his second of the game and Travis Barron scored for Ottawa. Final shots were 47-20 in favour of the 67's.
