Beloit Sky Carp News Release
BELOIT-The cycle repeated itself for the Beloit Sky Carp Saturday night at ABC Supply Stadium.
For the fifth straight time, the Cedar Rapids Kernels got out to an early lead and parlayed that into a victory, winning 3-1 in the latest battle.
The Kernels scored a pair of runs in the first inning and never trailed thereafter, adding a run in the second inning to go up 3-0.
Beloit scored its only run in the fourth inning when Bennett Hostetler hit an RBI groundout to plate Victor Mesa Jr.
Fitterer ended his night with five innings completed, allowing three runs, while the Sky Carp bullpen was terrific, covering the last four innings without allowing a tally.
An outstanding Saturday night crowd of 2,391 was rocking and rolling throughout the night, enjoying their Kwik Trip fanny packs and relishing a trip back to the Jurassic era.
The Sky Carp will try to avoid the sweep Sunday afternoon when the two teams meet for game six. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a Poopsie bobblehead. Kids can run the bases following the game, and after the base run, families are permitted to play catch in the outfield.
