CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - In their latest eight-run outburst, the Quad Cities River Bandits picked up an 8-2 win Thursday against the Cedar Rapids Kernels at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Quad Cities (54-25) recorded exactly eight runs in each of the first three victories of this series while securing a season-high-tying seven-game win streak.

John Rave was a big part of a 7-0 start by the River Bandits. Rave hit a two-run home run during the third inning and added a solo shot within the fifth in his first professional multi-homer game. Quad Cities also scored on a fourth-inning RBI single for Jake Means and a three-run round-tripper from Seuly Matias in the fifth inning.

DaShawn Keirsey Jr. delivered a response for Cedar Rapids (44-37) during its half of the fifth. Jair Camargo reached second base after a leadoff single coupled with an error. Keirsey batted next and lined a two-run blast into the Plumbers & Pipefitters Pavilion that sliced the deficit to 7-2. He has three total home runs this season including two in as many nights.

Michael Massey set the winning margin at 8-2 Quad Cities within the top of the seventh. He followed Nathan Eaton's single with an RBI double that capped the scoring in Thursday's tilt.

Anthony Veneziano (3-3) led all pitchers with five strikeouts and allowed just two runs over 5.1 innings pitched to notch the win. Ben Gross (4-1) gave up a career-high seven runs in 4.1 frames and suffered his first loss this year.

This six-game homestand continues Friday night at 6:35 p.m. as right-hander Louie Varland (1-0, 0.00) and the Kernels host southpaw A.J. Block (3-1, 4.15) and the River Bandits. Chris Kleinhans-Schulz will cover Friday's contest on www.kernels.com and MiLB.TV.
