CDW Mid-Year Stats: Nashville SC's Stat Leaders Through Midpoint of 2022 Season
July 22, 2022 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Nashville SC News Release
Nashville SC is past the halfway point of the 2022 Major League Soccer season.
With a 8W-7L-6D record, the Boys in Gold sit in fifth place in the Western Conference. Take a look at some of the team's leaders in different statistics:
GOALS: Hany Mukhtar (12)
After leading Nashville SC's scoring charts last season with 16 goals, the 2021 Landon Donovan MLS MVP finalist has heated up even more in 2022. Mukhtar, who was recently named a 2022 MLS All-Star, leads the team with 12 goals, which puts him in second place in the Golden Boot race. The MVP candidate also sits atop the league in shots taken with 82 and shots on target with 47. He's been scoring in bunches this season as well with three braces so far in 2022. Mukhtar has been lighting up the score sheet through June and July, scoring at least one goal in his last five MLS matches, setting a club record.
ACCURATE PASS %: Jack Maher (89.3%)
Defender Jack Maher leads Nashville SC with an 89.3% completed pass percentage in his third season with the club. He has recorded a passing percentage of 85% or higher in all but two of his 15 MLS starts this season. He's been a sturdy passer as well, only committing six turnovers in 1,404 minutes of play. Maher has also registered an assist this season, adding a helper on CJ Sapong's opening goal against Atlanta United on May 21.
ACCURATE LONG BALLS: Walker Zimmerman (80)
Back-to-back MLS Defender of the Year and All-Star Walker Zimmerman leads the team's outfield players in accurate long balls with 4.6 per 90 and a total of 80 at the halfway point of the 2022 season. Zimmerman has been a key contributor to the U.S. Men's National Team over the last year, guiding the team to its first World Cup qualification since 2014. If Zimmerman continues on his current trajectory, he will finish the season with an improvement on his 2021 accurate long per 90 stat of 3.04.
INTERCEPTIONS: Sean Davis (34)
Midfielder Sean Davis, who joined the club ahead of the 2022 season as a free agent, leads the Boys in Gold with 34 interceptions across 19 starts in 21 MLS appearances. Davis started his Nashville career with a bang, recording at least two interceptions in each of his first five starts of the 2022 season. Working as a disruptor in Gary Smith's system, he also leads Nashville SC in accurate forward passes (350) and is second on the team in tackles (23) and minutes played (1,717).
