Idaho Stampede News Release

Boise, Idaho (January 16, 2007) - KCBI CBS Channel 2 is teaming up with the Idaho Stampede of the NBA Development League to help stamp out hunger in Idaho.

As a partner in the CBS 2 Food Drive, the Stampede are asking fans to donate non-perishable food items and cash at two games against the Fort Worth Flyers on January 24 and 25, 2007.

All money and goods collected will go to the Idaho Foodbank as part of the first annual CBS 2 Food Drive, going on during the month of January, to help feed thousands of Idahoans who are hungry.

As an incentive, anyone donating food or cash at either game will receive a voucher good for two tickets for the price of one for an upcoming Idaho stampede game this season.

"We are proud to partner with CBS 2 and help in any way that our organization can give back to the community, especially contributing to the prevention of hunger in our state," said Stampede General Manager Steve Brandes.

In the nine years since the Idaho Stampede first thundered onto the scene in the Treasure Valley, the franchise has proved its staying power. The team has established the Idaho Stampede Community Foundation, which is committed to providing the Treasure Valley a number of different programs to enrich the lives of Idahoans in our community.

This is also the first year that the team is a part of the NBA Development League, which includes 12 teams, with each team being affiliated with an NBA team. As a part of the NBA family, the Stampede Community Foundation has expanded to incorporate many of the programs carried out by the NBA through the D-League Cares initiative.

The Stampede affiliates are the Utah Jazz and Seattle SuperSonics, and the current roster includes players from each of those NBA teams. The team is currently in first place in the Western Division with a record of 14-7, and is coached by Bryan Gates.
