San Angelo Colts News Release

Fort Worth, Texas --- After two days of rainouts, the Fort Worth Cats swept the Colts in Friday evening's doubleheader at LaGrave Field. The Cats scored early and often in both games, winning game one, 7-3, and game two, 6-3.

Tied at three in the third inning of game one, the Cats scored four unanswered runs to pull away for the victory.

A Colts' fielding error in the bottom of the third allowed Cats' designated hitter Chuck Caufield and third baseman Brandon Jones to score the go-ahead runs. Shortstop Scott Dalrymple reached base as a result of the error.

Fort Worth pitching blanked the Colts through the last four innings to ensure the win.

Cats' starter Tim Haines (2-0) allowed three unearned runs on five hits in as many innings to earn the victory. Mark Willinsky (1-1) allowed six runs, three earned, on eight hits in five innings and took the loss.

Fort Worth took an early 2-0 lead in game two. Caufield and second baseman C.J. Beatty provided those runs.

The Colts cut the lead in half in the top of the fourth, but Fort Worth tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the inning.

Caufield, centerfielder R.J. Harris and Jones all scored thanks to a Colts error and an RBI single by Dalrymple. San Angelo scored two runs in the sixth, but it was not enough to overcome a five run deficit.

Blake Nation (2-0) earned the win for Fort Worth, allowing one run on four hits in five innings. Closer T.J. Bozeman pitched a scoreless seventh to earn his second save.

Brian Henschel (1-2) tossed his second straight complete game, but took the loss. He allowed six runs on 11 hits in six innings.

The Colts return home Saturday to begin a two-game series against the Abilene Prairie Dogs. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a Colts' t-shirt, courtesy of 1st Community Federal Credit Union. Gates open at 6:05 p.m., and first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

The San Angelo Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
