
Cats Slug Past Wings; Take Series

FORT WORTH, Texas- The Fort Worth Cats slugged past the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings 10-4 Friday night at LaGrave Field.
In the bottom of the second inning Cat's designated hitter Shelby Ford led it off with a triple to the right center field wall.
This opened the door for Greg Bachman who belted a 2 run home run giving the Cat's an early 2-0 lead.
Kori Melo then hit a single to extend the early rally. Leadoff man Cameron Monger blasted an RBI triple scoring Melo from first, making it 3-0 Fort Worth.
Fort Worth used a three run fourth and sixth to pull away from the WhiteWings as the bats of Bachman, Monger and Meeley led the way with a combined 8-for-14 with seven RBI's combined.
In the top of the fifth inning Hiroki Itakura led off the inning with a single, Michael Garcia then smashed a double to the right field walk advancing Itakura to third.
Kieran Bradford hit a high pop up scoring Itakura on the sacrifice fly,
Danny Pembroke then scored Garcia on an RBI single trimming the lead to 7-2.
WhiteWings starter Ray Hanson (3-3) was charged with the loss going five innings, seven runs on 11 hits. On the opposition Eric Sheridan (4-1) was credited with the win pitching six innings, scattering eight hits on just three runs.
The WhiteWings return home Saturday for an eight game home stand, starting with the Texas Thunder, then the Fort Worth Cats will make their first trip to Harlingen Field. First pitch is set for 7:05.
