Fort Worth Cats News Release

The Fort Worth Cats capped a four-game series against the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings with a decisive 10-4 victory on Friday night.

The Cats (18-10) jumped out to an early lead in the second inning when third baseman Greg Bachman launched a two-run home run - his first of the season - to left center field.

The Cats added another run in the third, then three more in the fourth and three in the sixth.

Bachman went 3-for-4 with three RBI and designated hitter Daniel Meeley finished a home run short of the cycle, going 3-for-5 with two RBI. Right fielder Chris Ellison and center fielder Cameron Monger both had two RBI as well.

Cats' starting pitcher Eric Sheridan earned his United League-leading fourth win of the season, going six innings and giving up only one earned run on eight hits.

Relief pitcher Hector Contin - who will be joining the El Paso Diablos of the American Association on Saturday - pitched effectively in his final game with the Cats. He gave up one run on one hit in two innings pitched.

The Cats plan to sign right-handed pitcher Trevor Longfellow to take Contin's spot for the road trip.

New Cat Nick Kuroczko came in to pinch hit in the seventh inning, working a five-pitch walk in his only plate appearance. Defensively, he also had three assists.

The Cats head out on the road to Edinburg to face the Roadrunners (12-16) in a four-game series. Jose Canseco will join the team again for one game on Saturday.

The Cats return home on June 30 and play a four-game series against the Alexandria Aces.

Tickets to all home games can be purchased by going to FWCats.com or by calling (817) 332-CATS.
