Jose Canseco Signs on With Fort Worth Cats

June 21, 2013 - United League Baseball (ULB)
Fort Worth Cats News Release

Over the past week, the Fort Worth Cats have made several new roster moves, including former Cat Jose Canseco signing on to play one more game on the road against the Edinburg Roadrunners on Saturday.

Canseco will sign for one game to play against his brother, Ozzie, who is the Roadrunners' manager.

In addition, the Cats have signed left-handed relief pitcher Matthew Eschleman and corner infielder Nick Kuroczko.

Former Cats pitchers Boomer Potts and Chad Robinson have signed contracts with other teams and the team released pitcher Jeff Sakowski on Friday.

The team intends to sign right-handed pitcher Trevor Longfellow this weekend and he will join the team for the road series.

Eschleman pitched in his first game with the team on Thursday. He worked one inning, gave up no runs, struck out one batter and gave up one hit.

Kuroczko has professional experience with the Windy City Thunderbolts and Schaumburg Boomers. He is not in Friday's starting lineup.

Potts and Robinson led the team in saves with five and three, respectively. Potts has joined the Lake Erie Crushers of the Frontier League and Robinson has joined the Kansas City T-Bones of the American Association.

Sakowski started the season in the rotation, starting three games before leaving his last start with an injury. He was activated from injury earlier in the week and pitched in a game on June 19 but gave up three earned runs and did not record and out in that appearance. He posted a 5.68 ERA in 12.2 innings pitched.
