Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

FORT WORTH, TX - The Lincoln Saltdogs couldn't get the bats going on Wednesday, losing 9-0 to the Fort Worth Cats at LaGrave Field. Lincoln drops to 11-20 on the season.

Fort Worth starter Jae Jung (3-0) continued to pitch like an All-Star, scattering eight hits while pitching his second straight complete-game shutout. Lincoln only had more than one runner on base at a time twice in the game, and no Saltdogs runner advanced past second base.

Saltdogs starter Jonathan Figueroa (1-4) started strong, striking out six batters in the first four innings, but the Cats touched him for a run in the second and two more in the fourth (one unearned) to take a 3-0 lead. Fort Worth then broke the game open in the sixth. Figueroa allowed a single and a walk with two out, and Ryan Patterson followed with a three-run homer to make it 6-0. The Cats added one more run in the inning, and tacked on two more in the seventh to set the final margin.

Matt Maloney and Phil Hawke had two hits apiece to lead the Saltdogs attack. Josh Burrus went 1-for-4, extending his hitting streak to nine games.

The two teams play the rubber match of their three-game series Thursday night at 7:05pm. Righty Jim Paduch will make the start for Lincoln.
