The Sioux Falls Canaries scored four big runs in the eighth inning to break a 3-3 tie and beat the Wichita Wingnuts Wednesday afternoon. Canaries 3B Trevor Lawhorn went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and a run batted in while 1B Patrick Reilly scored two runs and drove in one in a 1-for-2 day. Sioux Falls reliever Patrick Lawler notched his second win of the year allowing one earned run on three hits in 1 1/3 innings of work. Canaries closer Kris Regas struck out two in 1 2/3 innings to collect his 12th save of the season. SS Josh Horn was a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI for Wichita in defeat.

Fort Worth 9, Lincoln 0

Leading 3-0 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, Fort Worth got a three-run home run from DH Ryan Patterson that gave the Cats a 6-0 lead and effectively put the game out of reach. Fort Worth recorded 13 hits as a team, led by SS Cameron Blair who was 4-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI. The Cats provided more than enough support for starting pitcher, and Pitcher of the Week, Jae Jung, who had a stellar outing. Jung scattered eight hits and did not walk a batter in a complete game shutout. With the win, Jung ran his record to 3-0 on the year.

El Paso 3, Grand Prairie 2

El Paso got a solid outing from starting pitcher Nick Martin, and some help from the bullpen to squeak by Grand Prairie, 3-2. Martin allowed two runs, one earned, on two hits while striking out seven in 5 1/3 innings, but did not factor in the decision. Instead, it was Diablos reliever Joe Klein who picked up the win after allowing two hits in 1 2/3 scoreless innings. El Paso DH Jorge Alvarez led the way at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Diablos 3B Edwin Maldonado also hit a solo home run. He was 1-for-4.

Sioux City 13, St. Paul 3

A nine-run fifth inning by Sioux City sealed St. Paul's fate, as the Explorers rolled to a 13-3 win at home. Four different Sioux City batters drove in at least two runs in the contest, including LF Justin Nelson, who was 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI. Explorers SS Nick McCoola also drove in three and was 1-for-4 with a pair of runs scored. Sioux City CF Anthony Webster was 1-for-4 with a double. Webster has now reached base in all 32 games this season. Explorers starting pitcher Ty Marotz was the beneficiary of the run support. He allowed three runs and struck out six in five innings of work en route to his second win of the season. St. Paul DH Jacob Butler was 2-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI in the losing effort.

Pensacola 5, Shreveport-Bossier 4 (10 innings)

After allowing Shreveport-Bossier two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the game at 4-4, Pensacola rebounded to score a run in the 10th and earn a 5-4 win. Pelicans starter Kyle Middleton pitched well, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out five in eight innings, but did not factor in the decision. Instead, it was Pensacola reliever Hunter Davis that was credited with the win, his first. The Pelicans tallied 14 hits as a team, led by DH Chase Burch, who was 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and two RBI. Pensacola 1B Luis Bautista also had a good game, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and a RBI.
