Cats scratch out series win

MEMPHIS, TN - The Sacramento River Cats picked up their fifth series win of the season in a 9-3 victory over the Memphis Redbirds Friday night at AutoZone Park.

Memphis starter Lance Lynn pitched a solid six innings allowing only two runs on eight hits while walking one and striking out six. Those two runs were picked up in the fourth inning off an RBI-single and a sacrifice fly.

The Redbirds tied it up with a RBI-double in the fifth inning and a sacrifice fly in the sixth. The River Cats were quick to answer back in the seventh, attacking reliever Chuckie Fick who gave up five runs, four earned, on five hits in his inning of work for the loss. Blake King took over for the ‘Birds in the eight surrendering two more runs to give the Cats a 9-3 lead on the night.

Fernando Cabrera earned the win for Sacramento giving up one unearned run on two hits while walking one and striking out two in 1.2 innings.

Memphis begins a four-game series against the Fresno Grizzlies tomorrow night with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The ‘Birds sends Adam Ottavino to the mound to face Grizzlies Shane Loux. Tomorrow night is Salute to Negro Leagues night. Former Memphis Red Sox players will be honored on field during the game tomorrow night and will be available for autographs during the game on the concourse. The Memphis Redbirds and Fresno Grizzlies will be wearing throwback uniforms, the ‘Birds donned in Red Sox gear while the Grizzlies will be wearing Homestead Grays jerseys.
