Tucson Padres News Release

Tucson Padres first baseman, and Triple-A Baseball's RBI leader, Anthony Rizzo will be walking in the Tucson Lymphomathon Saturday, May 14th at Reid Park. Rizzo battled and defeated non-hodgkins lymphoma as an 18-year-old in 2008. The Tucson Padres fundraising team named "Team Padres" is accepting donations.

The Tucson Lymphomathon is a non-competitive 5K walk where survivors, family, friends, community and corporate teams walk in honor and in memory of those whose lives have been touched by lymphoma. Over half a million people are currently living with lymphoma in the United States -- the most common blood cancer in the United States today and the third most common childhood cancer. Funds raised by participants will support the Foundation's mission of eradicating lymphoma and serving those touched by this disease.

Registration starts at 7:30 am Saturday, with the walk beginning at 8:30 am. The Tucson Padres are asking for a minimum donation of $20 to join "Team Padres." At this point, "Team Padres" has raised more money than any other group taking part in the Tucson Lymphomathon!
