Sacramento River Cats News Release
FRESNO, Calif. - Nick Buss went 4-for-5 with a run scored on Tuesday evening at Chukchansi Park, but the Fresno Grizzlies surged past the visiting Sacramento River Cats to win, 14-2.
The River Cats opened the game by scoring both of their runs in the top of the first inning on an Andy Parrino run-scoring single, and a Daric Barton RBI-single. Fresno responded with a six-run, bottom-of-the-first that was highlighted by an Adam Duvall two-run home run and a two-run Darren Ford single, giving the Grizzlies a 6-2 lead after one.
The Grizzlies scored two runs in the third and two runs in the fourth, before putting a four-spot on the board in the seventh-capped by Duvall's second home run of the evening-giving them the 14-2 victory over the River Cats.
Buss' four-hit performance paced the River Cats, while Jake Elmore and Luis Exposito each had two hits. Zach Neal was charged with the loss, giving up 10 runs-four earned-on 13 hits and zero walks with two strikeouts in 3.2 innings pitched.
The win was awarded to Sacramento State alum Mitch Lively, who gave up two runs on eight hits and zero walks with four strikeouts in five innings of work. Duvall finished 3-for-5 with three runs, six RBI, and two home runs-his 24th and 25th of the season. Outfielder Gary Brown went 3-for-5 with three RBI and a double.
Lefty Tommy Milone (0-0, No ERA) is set to make his 2014 Triple-A debut at 7:05 p.m. at Chukchansi Park when he starts opposite Grizzlies southpaw Edwin Escobar (3-8, 5.31 ERA) on Wednesday night.
Sacramento returns home on Friday, July 11, at 7:05 p.m. when the Aces visit Raley Field for the first time this season in a three-game set that ends just before the 2014 All-Star break.
