El Paso Chihuahuas News Release
Albuquerque put two on base in the bottom of the ninth inning but Chihuahuas reliever Hector Ambriz left both runners on in El Paso's 4-3 win Tuesday night at Isotopes Park. It was the first victory for the Chihuahuas in six games this season at "The Lab" in Albuquerque.
The Chihuahuas went ahead 1-0 on an RBI fielder's choice by Jonathan Galvez in the third inning. Albuquerque scored three runs in the bottom of the third, a half-inning that saw Carl Crawford reach on catcher's interference and Jamie Romak hit a two-run double. The Chihuahuas climbed back ahead when they scored two runs in the top of the seventh on RBI singles by Jonathan Galvez and Cody Decker.
Catcher Rocky Gale went 2-for-3 with an RBI and is now 5-for-7 in the series vs. Albuquerque. After two strong starts with El Paso, Chris Smith continued to pitch well in relief, posting three shutout innings for his first win in the Padres organization. The Chihuahuas have won 11 of their last 17 games.
