Catfish Shut Out 6-0, Swept by Braves

Columbus, GA - The Catfish (18-22) were shut out 6-0 Thursday by the Rome Braves (29-10), completing a four-game sweep. The Catfish offense was limited to just four singles in the second shutout of the series.

RHP James McDonald (1-2) started for the Catfish and struck out eight hitters in 5 1/3 innings. He issued seven walks, but allowed just three hits and limited the Braves to just two runs. Despite the effort he was the losing pitcher. RHP Jesus Rodriguez pitched the final 3 2/3 innings in relief. He gave up four runs, three earned, on six hits. LHP Jo Jo Reyes (5-0) pitched the first 6 2/3 innings for Rome and gave up three hits and three walks to earn the win.

1B David Sutherland went 2-for-4 with two singles, raising his batting average to .312. SS Ivan DeJesus was 1-for-3 with a single and a walk. He is hitting .358 (19/53) in the last 13 games.

Rome was led offensively by 1B Isaiah Ka'aihue, who was 3-for-4 with a double, home run, three RBI. In the last three games of the series he was 7-for-10 with a double, two home runs and six RBI.

Columbus now travels to Savannah for a four-game series with the Sand Gnats. The Catfish return to Golden Park Tuesday, May 23 to begin a four-game series against the Charleston RiverDogs.
