SAVANNAH, GA - Dexter Carter put the Intimidators on his back on Thursday night at Historic Grayson Stadium, helping Kannapolis to a 2-0 win over the San Gnats to earn a series split.

Carter (5-2) matched his season high, going eight innings without allowing a run. The right-hander maintained his league lead in strikeout, fanning nine to bring his season total to 129.

But while Kannapolis looked by far the offensive side on the night, the Intimidators struggled to capitalize on their opportunities. They managed just two runs on 11 hits, stranding seven men.

Brandon Short gave the Intimidators a lead in the second, driving in Dan Black with a two-out double. Jon Gilmore had the only other RBI in the contest.

The series proved to be a battle of the pitching staffs, with the two teams combining for only 13 runs over the four-game set.

Chris Schwinden (6-5) did the work for Savannah, going eight innings. The right-hander allowed two runs on 10 hits, struck out five and did not walk a batter.

Dan Remenowksy got the final three outs, including a pair of strikeouts, for his 13th save of the season.
