
Carolina wins over West Tenn

Jackson, TN --- One night after surrendering a franchise-record 20 runs, the Carolina Mudcats defeated the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx 7-3 at Pringles Park before 2,069 fans on Saturday night.
Catcher Jason Bour had three of Carolina's 10 hits, while Stephen Chapman had two hits and three RBIs in support of Tom Cochran (W, 4-4), who earned the victory pitching six innings of three-run ball.
Juan Francisco continued his feverish offensive pace, picking up two more hits, snapping a run of four consecutive three-hit games. Francisco has 14 hits in his last 23 at-bats.
Joseph Krebs (S, 2) notched the save by working three innings of one-hit relief.
The Mudcats picked up a game on first-place Chattanooga, closing to within eight games of the Northern Division lead with 27 to play. Both second place teams lost on Saturday, allowing the Lookouts to maintain their two-game edge.
Camilo Vazquez (2-3, 5.90) starts Sunday at 3:05 PM ET against Steve Bray (4-6, 3.30) in the fourth game of five.
