Carlson stymies Janesville, Coulee Region wins 4-1

Janesville, WI- The Coulee Region Chill relied on the sparkling performance of Adam Carlson in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Janesville Jets.

Coulee Region's penalty kill excelled, as the Chill gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

Coulee Region was led by Richard Zehnal, who grabbed one goal. Zehnal scored 18:17 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Coulee Region. Mac Jansen assisted on the tally.

The Chill stifled Janesville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The 30 shots that Coulee Region put on net surpassed the Chill's average of 24.0 shots per game this season. Coulee Region was hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled nine minors and one major for 23 minutes in penalty time.

Justin Holliday also scored for Coulee Region. More assists for Coulee Region came via Griff Jeszka, who had two and Sean Kalbak and Adam Lovick, who contributed one a piece.

The Jets stifled the Chill's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Janesville put 30 shots on net during the contest, more than the 21.7 it averages per game.

The Jets were led by Adam Winborg, who scored the team's only goal. Winborg scored 4:16 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Coulee Region. Michael Louria provided the assist.

Coulee Region's Carlson stopped 29 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Chill registered zero goals on five power play opportunities. Logan Halladay rejected 26 shots on goal for Janesville. The Jets ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major.

Coach Joe Dibble says, "We were inconsistent, we need to put together a sixty minute game. As young as we are we need our guys on the ice, not in the penalty box, we need them at key times. We need to battle."
