Soo Blows out Johnstown, 5-2

The Soo Eagles were firing on all cylinders against the Johnstown Tomahawks, and when the final buzzer sounded Eagles emerged with a 5-2 win.

Jacob McDowell had one goal and two assists to lead Soo. McDowell scored 8:48 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Soo. Pat Thompson picked up the assist.

The Eagles outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Soo averages 2.4 goals per contest. With 40 shots on target during the contest, the Eagles exceeded the 23.8 shots they average per game this year.

Soo also got points from Chase Matson, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Soo also had goals scored by Ryan Urso, who had one and Brad Pung, who had two. More assists for Soo came via Michael Caruso, who had two and Kristofers Bindulis, AJ Jarosz, Bruno Birzitis, and Darren Brady, who contributed one a piece.

Johnstown's offense rang up 37 shots on Soo's net.

The Tomahawks were helped by Brandon Reinholz, who racked up one goal. Reinholz scored 8:17 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Soo. Joe Drabin assisted on the tally. Johnstown also got a goal from Jordan Watt as well. In addition, Johnstown received assists from Matthew Meier and Zack Wallace, who each chipped in one.

Skoog Paige made 35 saves for the Eagles on 37 shots. Soo incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Colin DeAugustine took the loss and made seven saves before being replaced by Alex Okicki who made 28 saves. Johnstown incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
