Ray Winder Field, Little Rock, AR - 3B Travis Hanson smacked two home runs (14) as the Springfield Cardinals (14-15, 49-51) rallied to send the Arkansas Travelers (16-15, 50-51) to a 13-7 defeat. The Travs carried a 1-0 lead into the sixth inning when the Cards exploded for ten runs on eight hits with Hanson knocking in the tying run with a double. Later in the same inning he ripped a two-run homer to cap the rally. Later in the eighth inning, Hanson hit a two-out solo home run which was followed by home runs by Aaron Herr (13) and Juan Diaz (13). Travs starter LHP Daniel Davidson (9-5) took the loss by allowing seven runs (six earned) on seven hits in five innings with no walks and six strikeouts. Springfield RHP Chris Lambert (2-3) was the winner in a six-inning start allowing one run on seven hits, two walks and five strikeouts. Although the Travs and Cardinals each collected 14 hits the Travs stranded ten base runners, while the Cards left four. 3B Greg Porter extended a hitting streak to eight games with a 3-for-3 effort, while Reggie Willits was 3-for-5.

After leaving two runners in scoring position in the first inning, Greg Porter reached with a one-out single in the second inning. Then when Lambert's pickoff attempt at first base got away from 1B Gabe Johnson Porter ran all the way to third. He scored when Jason Aspito drove a double off the center field wall for a 1-0 lead.

Davidson had no trouble over the first five innings with just two hits, no walks and six strikeouts. He did not retire a batter in the sixth and left the game after the first seven batters reached. It all started when Mike Napoli was charged with a catcher's interference allowing Matt Pagnozzi to reach base. Shaun Boyd followed with a bunt to the mound and Davidson threw the ball into the runner. Hanson then chopped a ball fair past first base for a game-tying double. Boyd and Hanson scored for a 3-1 Cards lead on a double to right by Herr. Diaz singled Herr to third base and Herr scored when Papo Bolivar hit a single to right field. Cody Haerther knocked Davidson from the game with a single to load the bases. Arkansas used RHP Matt Wilhite and he deflected a grounder to the mound by Gabe Johnson past shortstop for a two-run single. After nine batters the first out was recorded when Brendan Ryan bounced to the mound. Boyd brought in two more runs with a single to left field and Hanson smacked a two-run homer to right.

The Springfield sixth inning featured ten runs on eight hits with 13 batters coming to the plate.

Springfield brought in reliever LHP Kevin Ool for his Class AA debut in the seventh inning and Willits and Erick Aybar had singles to start the inning then moved up on a wild pitch. Groundouts by 2B Howie Kendrick and Napoli brought in a run each to cut the Cards' lead to 10-3.

RHP Josh Axelson came in for the eighth inning and he hit Porter with one out then threw a wild pitch to get him to second base. Aspito singled to center to bring in Porter followed by a two-run homer by Mike Eylward (8). Willits then singled, stole second base and went to third on Pagnozzi's throwing error. A two-out single by Kendrick scored Willits for the Travs' final run. The score after the top of the eighth inning had Springfield ahead 10-7.

RHP Mark O'Sullivan recorded two quick outs in the eighth, but then allowed three consecutive home runs to put the game away at 12-7 Springfield.

Time of game was 3:00 and the paid attendance was 7,792.
