Arkansas Travelers News Release
North Little Rock, AR-Anthony Shew pitched six innings leading three Springfield Cardinal pitchers in a 4-0 shutout of the Arkansas Travelers on Sunday night. Shew battled through early command issues but kept the Travs off the board before Junior Fernandez (2 IP) and Derian Gonzalez (IP) finished off the five-hit shutout. Ashton Goudeau, making his Traveler debut, delivered a solid start working into the seventh inning but was tagged with the loss. His 6.2 innings matched the second longest outing of his career.
Moments That Mattered
* The Travs procured four baserunners in the second inning but failed to score. A double play with two on slowed the momentum before two walks loaded the bases but Chuck Taylor fouled out to end the inning.
* Springfield responded by scoring twice in the third inning to get the lead. Luke Dykstra came home on a fielder's choice off the bat of Blake Drake while John Nogowski added a two out RBI single. The inning was aided by a passed ball and an error.
* Arkansas again loaded the bases with two out in the fourth but Chuck Taylor lined out to center field to end the inning.
Notable Travs Performances
