San Antonio, TX - The Springfield Cardinals battled out the series win with a 3-2 victory in 11 innings against the San Antonio Missions before 3,294 fans at Wolff Stadium on Monday night.

Despite Cardinals RHP Mike Mayers striking out the side in the bottom of the first, the Missions (11-7, 47-41) struck with a two-out rally to take an early advantage. With two down, 2B Casey McElroy kept the inning alive with a double, before racing in on an RBI single from 1B Jason Hagerty for the 1-0 lead.

The Cardinals (7-11, 41-47) came right back against RHP Josh Geer in the top of the second. 1B Jonathan Rodriguez and 3B Patrick Wisdom opened the stanza with consecutive singles, putting runners at the corners. One out later, RF David Popkins skied an RBI sacrifice fly in foul ground by left field, scoring Rodriguez to tie it, 1-1.

San Antonio swung back in front in the bottom of the third. With 2B Cory Spangenberg at second base and two away, Hagerty struck again with an RBI triple, plating Spangenberg for the 2-1 advantage.

Springfield again responded right away, tying the game in the top of the fourth frame. C Cody Stanley sparked the charge with a double, before darting to third on a groundout from Rodriguez. Wisdom then brought in Stanley from third with an RBI groundout to short, and the Cards pulled back even at 2-2.

Mayers dominated the Missions through the remainder of his seven innings. After Hagerty's triple in the third, Mayers retired 13 straight outs through the rest of his start, finishing with five strikeouts and no walks.

Cardinals LHP Lee Stoppelman followed Mayers with 1.2 scoreless relief innings, before RHP Mitch Harris (W, 1-0) pitched in with 1.1 scoreless stanzas.

After Harris finished the scoreless bottom of the 10th, the Cardinals seized their first lead of the game in the top of the 11th against RHP Matt Branham (L, 5-3). SS Alex Mejia started the inning with a single to right-center, before racing to second base on a pinch-hit, sacrifice bunt from INF Matt Williams. LF Mike O'Neill then placed an RBI double to shallow left field, just out of the diving range of LF Lee Orr, to bring in Mejia for the go-ahead run and the 3-2 lead.

LHP Justin Wright (S, 6) took over on the mound for the bottom of the 11th and promptly slammed the door, tossing a 1-2-3 inning to close the 3-2 win for Springfield in 11 frames.
