AMARILLO, TX - The Springfield Cardinals (9-1) battled back but could not overcome an early six-run hole as the Amarillo Sod Poodles (3-7) defeated the Cards 10-7 in the series opener Tuesday night at Hodgetown. With the loss, the Cardinals' franchise-record nine-game winning streak comes to an end.

Notables:

The Cardinals had their nine-game winning streak snapped. They were the final undefeated team in affiliated professional baseball coming into play.

Jimmy Crooks and Matt Lloyd hit back-to-back home runs for the Cardinals in the 3rd. Lloyd has now homered in back-to-back games.

The Cardinals left a season-high 13 runners on base, going just 4-for-17 with runners in scoring position.

RJ Yeager had two hits, extending his season-opening hitting streak to nine games.

Both Yeager and Bryan Torres have reached base in all nine games they've played in.

Brandon Komar fired 5.1 innings of two-run ball out of the Springfield bullpen, the longest outing by a Cardinal reliever this season.
