
Captains Strike Out 16 Sky Carp, Lose in 10 Innings 3-1

Lake County Captains News Release
(EASTLAKE, OH) - The Lake County Captains (31-28) surrendered their only three runs in the top half of the 10th inning to the Beloit Sky Carp (27-32) en route to a 3-1 loss on a beautiful Thursday night at Classic Park.
In the top of the 10th inning, with runners on first and second, following a lead-off walk, Beloit hitter Kyler Castillo hit an RBI single to score the first run of the ballgame. Then, after a hit by pitch, bases were loaded for Dalvy Rosario. He would drive in two more runs to give the Sky Carp a 3-0 lead.
In the home half of the 10th, Alexfri Planez delivered an RBI double to give Lake County their only run of tonight's game. Petey Halpin would draw a walk, his third time reaching base, to put runners on first and second, but three straight outs would end the night for the Captains with a 3-1 loss.
Mason Hickman was dealing on the mound for Lake County. Hickman went five innings, tying a season-high, allowing zero runs on a single hit. The right-hander would also strike out a season-high nine batters tonight.
The Captains was rivaled by Beloit's outstanding starting pitching performance from left-hander Patrick Monteverde. Monteverde finished his outing, going six innings, allowing no runs on five hits. He would also set down eight batters on strikes.
Zach Hart and Randy Labaut each put together scoreless relief appearances on the side of Lake County.
On the side of Beloit, it was two scoreless innings from Robinson Martinez with a strikeout and a walk.
Chandler Jozwiak, who entered in the ninth inning, would put in two innings of work for the Sky Carp, earning the win for Beloit. Cade Smith surrendered the runs in the 10th and got the loss.
Game four of the series is tomorrow, Friday, June 17, first pitch at 7:00 p.m. Tomorrow is Friday Night Fireworks, courtesy of Meijer's.
