
Captains defeat Shorebirds in Game 1

(Eastlake, OH)--The Lake County Captains scored seven runs in the fifth inning Saturday night, and cruised to a 9-3 win over the Delmarva Shorebirds in the first game of a doubleheader at Classic Park.
The Captains broke a 2-2 tie when they sent 12 batters to the plate and scored seven times in the fifth, chasing starter Brandon Erbe (4-5) from the game. Lefty reliever Russ Petrick issued three walks in the inning, and served up RBI singles to Mike Conroy, P.J. Hiser, Fernando Pacheco and Niuman Romero.
Conroy went 3-4 in the game with a pair of RBI.
Captains starter Frank Herrmann struck out seven batters in 4 2/3 innings, but left with the score 2-2. Righthander Marc Jecmen (3-2) worked 1 1/3 innings of relief to earn the win.
