Columbus Catfish News Release

Columbus, GA - Steady rain during most of the game made for difficult conditions as the Catfish (1-2) lost 9-7 against the Savannah Sand Gnats (2-1) Saturday at Golden Park. After a 33-minute delay due to rain Columbus jumped out to an early 7-6 lead powered by three home runs but let the game slip away late as Savannah took advantage of 14 walks issued by Catfish pitchers.

RF Sergio Pedroza got the Catfish on the board in the first inning with a solo home run that made the score 2-1 in favor of the Sand Gnats. It was Pedroza's South Atlantic League leading 17th homer of the season.

LF Lucas May walked and was then doubled home by SS Ivan DeJesus. With two outs 3B Russ Mitchell tripled home DeJesus and then DH Jason Mooneyham walked. Three runs scored on the first home run by 2B Travis Denker.
