Nashville SC News Release

NASHVILLE - Nashville SC captain Michael Reed was voted last night's Budweiser Man of the Match for the leadership he displayed that rallied his team to a 4-0 victory despite exiting early. Eight minutes into the match, Reed was stretchered off the pitch after a tackle that resulted in a leg injury, and he passed on the captain's armband to defender Forrest Lasso. The team then went on to score four goals in the second half. When it came time to vote for the Man of the Match, an overwhelming number of votes for Reed flooded the team's Twitter poll as fans sought to recognize Reed for his courage.

Reed had been in good form as of late, coming off of a match at Swope Park Rangers in which he had 93.8% passing accuracy and 48 total passes. The match before, Reed provided an assist to Daniel Ríos in the 24' minute and had an passing accuracy of 94.4%. The veteran midfielder has scored two goals for Nashville SC in his two seasons with the club, providing six assists in 53 appearances.

Reed's fellow teammates, including defender Ken Tribbett who subbed in for Reed, dedicated their play last night to their injured captain, working to earn their fourth straight shutout win and score four goals in the process.

"Prayers go out to Michael Reed our captain," said Tribbett. "We love him to death. Hopefully he has a speedy recovery. My performance tonight was for him, so I was happy to get on the score sheet for him and get that clean sheet for him."
