RENO, Nev. - Reno 1868 FC forward Corey Hertzog has been named the USL's Player of the Month for July. Reno went 4-1, and Hertzog scored four goals. Hertzog's season total sits at 11 goals.

It means a lot, I do it for my family. My mom and dad back home are a big reason I'm playing this season," said Hertzog. "I just wanted to do it for my family.

"He works hard and he's a good leader in the locker room," said head coach Ian Russell. "He leads by example. That's important for the young guys."

Hertzog opened up the month with a goal against Rio Grande Valley FC on July 3 in a 4-0 win. The 29-year-old would come back on July 17 with a goal in the 77th minute to secure a 3-2 comeback win over OKC on the road.

On July 24, Hertzog would convert a penalty to avoid a shutout in a 4-1 loss at Orange County. Hertzog would cap the month with a highlight-reel goal in the 18th minute goal in July 27th's 4-0 win over Colorado Springs at home.

Hertzog came to Reno this season as a three-time All-League selection, and his 55 career goals are fourth in league history. His 11 goals this season are within striking distance of his career single-season best of 14, accomplished for Pittsburgh in 2017.

Hertzog's 11 goals lead Reno, and are the fifth most in the league. His next opportunity to score will be this weekend, with Reno taking on San Antonio FC at Greater Nevada Field.
