St. George RoadRunners News Release
EDMONTON - Mac Nelson pitched a complete game, but it was not enough as the Edmonton Capitals took Thursday's double header opener 4-2.
The RoadRunners dropped to 0-1 in the second half and 25-16 overall while the Caps improved to 2-0, 25-18.
Caps 2B Mitch Graham knocked in three RBI including two on a double to center in the fourth inning. Joey Gomes added an insurance run in the fifth with a solo homer.
St. George CF Ryan Stevenson had a pair of hits and a run batted in while Eric Pringle also had two hits and scored a run. The RoadRunners had a chance to tie the game in the fifth, but Pringle was tagged out at home after a solid throw from Jorge Cortes on Ruddy Yan's two-out hit.
Jason Pearson closed out save number eight with a perfect 1-2-3 inning in the seventh.
STG dropped to 1-4 on their current road trip.
The series finale will feature LHP Luis Gonzalez on the mound for the RoadRunners.
