Caps Open Weekend with 3-2 Road Victory over Youngstown for Big 2 Points

Madison Capitols News Release
Casey Severo's goal with 10:02 left in regulation lifts the Capitols to a 3-2 road victory over the Youngstown Phantoms in tonight's series opener.
The Caps took a 2-0 lead into the third period after getting goals from Quinn Finley in the 1st period and Reid Pabich, in the 2nd. Madison saw that lead erased when Youngstown scored twice in the opening 4:02 of the 3rd period. Capitols head coach Tommy Upton elected to use his timeout following the equalizer.
"I told the guys lets just get back to work in playing our game," Upton said. "The message was to just settle down a bit, take a deep breath and lets not leave anything to chance. They did that and we got a huge goal from Sevy [Severo] along with big saves from Simon to earn a big two points for us."
Severo's game winner was a classic case of outworking your opponent to make a play. The Harvard commit made a great stick check play to win a puck battle and then immediately cut in front of the net to slide the eventual game-winner 5-hole. Severo assisted on Finley's goal in the first period to record his 10th multi-point game of the season.
The Caps and Phantoms will faceoff for the final time in the regular season tomorrow night when they attempt to sweep the weekend from Youngstown. Puck drop slated for 7:05 p.m. ET.
