Caps Host USNTDP U-18's for Weekend Set
March 10, 2023 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Madison Capitols News Release
Madison enters a two-game weekend with the United States National Team Development Program Under 18 team. This comes off the back of a quick two-game road trip to Chicago last week. In the Saturday and Sunday set, Madison was unable to pull a point away from the team on top of the Eastern Conference.
Another big test comes at the hands of a team loaded with prospects for this summer's NHL Draft in Nashville. The Capitols have met the U18's twice this season, once in Middleton and once on the road in Plymouth, Mich. In both matchups, the NTDP squad came away with a 4-goal victory winning 6-2 in January and 4-0 in February. Overall, Madison is 1-4-0-0 against the development program this season holding a 1-2-0-0 record against the U17 squad.
It's a big weekend in the arena for Madison as two great promotions will bring attention to things bigger than hockey. On Friday, the Capitols are happy to celebrate the life and legacy of former NHL official Dan Schachte. The Madison area native became the first US official to oversee 2,000 NHL games during his career. His family will be on hand for the ceremonial puck drop on Friday night.
Then, on Saturday, it's our 7th Annual Cross-Check Cancer Night in support of the American Cancer Society. Thanks to the help from local businesses, we are able to get cancer survivors out to the game on Saturday night free of charge. If that applies to you, fill out the form at the following link to register for free tickets: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd1vJdv_k5zAScB7OAU5W2ZizBTDSJYnx4wPPoALoOB6bHV3A/viewform.
The Caps will also be wearing special jerseys that night which will be auctioned off in support of the American Cancer Society. The jerseys have a special meaning to our organization as different cancers that have affected players and staff within the organization are represented throughout the jerseys with the ribbon colors being transferred into stripes. The jersey auction is open now and will run through Sunday at 7 pm. The link for the auction can be found here: https://web.dashapp.io/auction/6408ac0cece393d675ffa820.
Puck drop for this weekend's games is scheduled for 7:05 pm on both Friday and Saturday night. Coverage for the games will be on FloHockey with live updates on our social media pages. Tickets can be found at tickets.madcapshockey.com.
