
Herd Unable to Cage Black Hawks

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Sioux Falls Stampede Hockey Clubwas unable to clench an additional two points in United States Hockey League standings during their 3-2 loss to the Waterloo Black Hawks. Chris Pelosi and Jaksen Panzer found the Herd's two goals while Xavier Medina marked the loss on his goaltending record.
The first period saw the two teams in a tie at the end of the initial 20 minutes of play. The Stampede's Chris Pelosi was able to net the first goal of the night, unassisted, with just four minutes and 29 seconds expired off of the clock. Black Hawks defenseman, Sam Rinzel, tied the game with a powerplay goal with 10:49 left to go.
The Black Hawks scored the lone second period goal when Ben Robertson found the back of Xavier Medina's net around five-and-a-half minutes into the period. Robertson's goal put the Black Hawks up by one goal heading into the final period of regulation.
The third period was opened by Waterloo's Gavin Lindberg scoring 32 seconds in, putting the Black Hawks up by two goals. The Herd was able to knock down the deficit by one goal when Jaksen Panzer found the net on a shorthanded breakaway, which was fumbled by the goaltender Emmett Croteau, and was able to rebound and score with 6:31 left in regulation.
Xavier Medina backstopped the Herd's efforts with 30 saves on 33 shots for a .909 save percentage. Medina is now 11-13-3 with a .909 overall save percentage.
The Herd is back at the Denny Sanford Premier Center on Saturday evening when they host the Fargo Force. With a 6:05 p.m. puck drop, fans should arrive early to take part in all of the festivities planned for Stomp's Birthday Bash. The first 500 fans through the doors will receive free Stampede hats from Dental Solutions as a party favor. Tickets are available online, in-person through the Premier Center, or by stopping in or calling the Stampede office.
