The first half saw FC Dallas convert a chance in the fifth minute of the match, as Nkosi Tafari's quick cross connected to Sebastien Ibeagha inside the box to open the scoring.
Whitecaps FC would find their rhythm soon after the goal, putting continued pressure in the Dallas final third. In the 34th minute, Javain Brown sent a long throw-in inside the area, which Ranko Veselinović headed towards Ryan Gauld, causing FC Dallas midfielder Paul Arriola to put in an own goal and level the score at 1-1.
The 'Caps continued to build and generate opportunities. Midfielder Julian Gressel crossed in a ball to forward Brian White right at the end of the first half, as his chance would be parried away with a reaction save from Dallas goalkeeper Maarten Paes.
The second half began with an attempt from Gauld in the final third, but his shot rolled just wide of the far post in the 49th minute.
In the 78th minute, the away side saw a strong opportunity in their attacking half, as Marco Farfan's volley flew over the bar.
The home side looked to find the winner in the dying moments of the match. Veselinović's pass would roll agonizingly past substitute Sergio Córdova at the back post to keep the match tied at the final whistle.
The Blue & White continue their Concacaf Champions League quest as they visit Real C.D. España in San Pedro Sula, Honduras this upcoming Wednesday, March 15 with kickoff set for 3 p.m. PT. The 'Caps then head on the road to play LA Galaxy at Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday, March 18 at 7:30 p.m. PT, live on MLS Season Pass.
The next home match for the 'Caps is on Saturday, April 1 versus Canadian rivals CF Montreal, followed by Vaisakhi Night versus Portland Timbers on Saturday, April 8. For ticket information, visit whitecapsfc.com/tickets.
