Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release

DAYTON, Ohio - The TinCaps lost a hard-fought battle with the Dayton Dragons (Reds affiliate), 3-2, on Wednesday night at Day Air Ballpark. Fort Wayne (4-6) scored its two runs in the third inning, but couldn't catch up to the three runs scored by Dayton (6-5) in the first two innings.

Trailing by one in the ninth inning, the 'Caps put up a valiant comeback effort. The TinCaps had runners on first and third with two outs, but couldn't finish the job.

Fort Wayne first baseman Griffin Doersching shined at the plate. The slugger went 3-for-4, bumping his season batting average to .342. Another bright spot in the lineup was 17-year-old Ethan Salas (No. 1 Padres prospect). The designated hitter notched an RBI double in the third inning and got on base three more times with walks.

On the mound, Fort Wayne's bullpen put up another stellar performance. Ruben Galindo, Ryan Och, and Sam Whiting combined for 6 1/3 scoreless innings, only allowing two hits and striking out eleven.

The 'Caps had opportunities, but finished 3-for-18 with runners in scoring position with 13 left on base.
