Lincoln Stars News Release

The Lincoln Stars dropped their first home game of the season, 6-1, against the Madison Capitols on Saturday night at the Ice Box.

Jack Pechar scored the first goal of the game and the only one for Lincoln (1-2-0-0). Pechar rifled the puck top shelf, right side off a feed from Jared Mangan in the slot to put the Stars up 1-0 at the 15:20 mark of the first. That tally marked Lincoln's first power-play goal of the season.

Madison (4-0-0-0) responded 3:23 later on Max Nagel's first-of-two goals to send the two teams into the locker room tied up. The game-tying goal would be the Capitols' first of six unanswered goals. Madison erupted for three goals in the second period and tacked on two more in the third. Will Felicio also recorded two goals and goaltender Patriks Berzins stopped 45-of-46 shots.

The Capitols continued their record-setting start to the season and remain one of the only two remaining undefeated teams (Fargo).

Lincoln recorded 46 shots, marking the second consecutive game that it fired at least 45 shots in a game after it recorded 45 against the Chicago Steel on Sep. 22.

The Stars wrap up the weekend series against the Capitols on Sunday night at 5:05 at the Ice Box. Tickets can be purchased at lincolnstars.com.
