Capitols Fall in OT of Suspended Game

MADISON, WI - The Madison Capitols earned a point in the 5-4 overtime loss to Sioux City Musketeers at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena on Monday night. The first period took place last Wednesday, but a situation on the ice postponed the game until tonight.

Madison (19-20-2-2) is ranked seventh in the Eastern Conference with 42 points. Sioux City (20-17-4-2) is ranked sixth in the Western Conference with 46 points.

Left wing Cole Koepke scored the overtime game-winning goal at 4:08 of the extra session. Right wing Bauer Neudecker skated down the right wing with Koepke skating down the left. Once Neudecker found the right face-off circle, he passed the puck to Koepke at the left doorstep for the one-timer and the 5-4 win.

Opening up the scoring for Madison, left wing Cade Borchardt shoved the puck into the pads of Sioux City netminder Matt Jurusik. Right wing Anthony Callin one-timed the rebound up and into the net for his 10th tally of the season at 3:44 of the first period.

Answering back for Sioux City, defenseman Nate Clurman threw the puck on net. Left wing Matyas Svoboda redirected the shot allowing center Martin Pospisil to chip the puck past goaltender Joey Lameraoux at 9:28 mark of the first frame.

Making the score 2-1, defenseman Colin Felix picked up the puck in the neutral zone and fed it to left wing Alec Broetzman down the boards. Broetzman sauced the puck to center Brendan Walkom who wristed the puck over Jurusik for his fourth tally of the season at 13:48 of the opening frame.

Felix netted his fourth goal of the season at 5:37 of the second period. Felix picked up the puck in the Capitols zone and carried the puck down the left wing. When Felix reached the top of the left face-off circle, the defenseman wristed a shot past Jurusik to give the Capitols a 3-1 lead.

At 11:18 of the second period, forward Dylan Mills picked up his eighth goal of the season. Mills carried the puck down the right wing and snapped a wrist shot past Lamoreaux from the right face-off circle to bring the score to 3-2.

Svoboda tied the game at 3-3 with his fourth goal of the season. Pospisil fed the puck over to Neudecker in the right face-off circle. Nuedecker found Svoboda in the slot for the one-timer that beat Lamoreaux to tie the game.

The Capitols regained their lead with forward Kamil Sadlocha's 12th goal of the season just 30-seconds into the third period. Borchardt carried the puck down the right wing and around the Musketeers net before finding Sadlocha out front for the one-timer and a 4-3 lead.

Sioux City tied the game at 4-4 with left wing Sampo Ranta's 16th goal of the season at 11:16 of the third period. Right wing Parker Ford carried the puck down the right wing and centered the puck to Ranta in the slot. Ranta slipped the puck between Lamoreaux's pads for the tying goal.

Lamoreaux (2-5-1-0) took his first over loss of the season with 52 saves on 57 shots. Jurusik (18-13-3-1) earned his 18th win of the season as he stopped 34-of-38 shots.

Madison went 0-for-1 on the power play. Sioux City was 0-for-1 with the man advantage.

Notables: The game tonight began last Wednesday with the first period before the game was postponed until tonight due to an issue with the ice...Defenseman Colin Felix picked up a goal and an assist.
