Sioux Falls Stampede News Release
Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Stampede announced on Monday they have acquired forward captain Cameron Burke and a player to be named later from the Central Illinois Flying Aces in exchange for Khristian Acosta and a player to be named later. The USHL trade deadline is 10 PM tonight.
In addition, the Herd have acquired the Flying Aces' third round pick in the Phase II 2018 USHL Draft while Central Illinois acquires the Stampede's first round selection in the Phase II 2018 USHL Draft.
Burke, captain of the Flying Aces, skated in 46 games for Central Illinois and ranked fourth on the team in scoring with 23 points (8g, 15a). Two of his eight goals have come on the power play and one shorthanded this season. He ranked second on the team with 110 shots and has just 14 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-9, 170-pound center skated last season in Bloomington where he appeared in all 60 games, posting 19 points.
A native of Boxborough, Massachusetts, Burke was a seventh round (115th overall) selection of the Flying Aces during the 2016 USHL Phase II Draft. The 19-year-old forward has already committed to play Division I collegiate hockey at the University of Notre Dame after his USHL career has concluded.
Acosta was in his second season with the Stampede, appearing in 38 games and posting 23 points. Last season, Acosta skated in 20 games with the Herd, recording 13 points.
Burke is expected to join the Stampede for practice this week and is available to be in the lineup this weekend when the Herd close out their five-game road swing at Des Moines and Chicago. Puck drop Friday and Saturday is 7:05 PM and fans can catch all the action live on KELO News Talk 1320-AM, 107.9-FM and online at KELO.com. The Herd return home next weekend for a three-game homestand, March 9-11 at the PREMIER Center. Tickets for all three games are on sale now through the PREMIER Center or any Ticketmaster outlet.
