Capitols Announce Justin Friedman as New Director of Scouting

The Madison Capitols organization is thrilled to announce the hiring of Justin Friedman as the team's new Director of Scouting. Friedman brings in a wealth of experience and expertise to the organization, further solidifying the Capitols' commitment to player development and talent acquisition.

Friedman joins the Capitols with an impressive resum, having served as a scout in the USHL and NAHL. Last season, he served as part of the scouting staff for the Youngstown Phantoms until being named Director of Scouting of the New Hampshire Mountain Kings, an expansion team within the NAHL. He will continue to lead the Mountain Kings Scouting Department as well as taking his new role with the Capitols. Prior to his time with the Phantoms and Mountain Kings, Friedman served as an NAHL Scout with the New Jersey Titans of the NAHL from 2015 until the 2022 season.

Head Coach and General Manager Andy Brandt expressed his excitement about the team's new hire, stating, "We are thrilled to have Justin Friedman join the Madison Capitols as our Director of Scouting. His extensive experience and keen eye for talent make him the ideal candidate to lead our scouting efforts. Justin's commitment to player development and his ability to identify top prospects will undoubtedly contribute to the future success of our organization. We are confident that Justin will play a crucial role in shaping the Capitols' roster and helping us achieve our goals."

Besides his time as a scout, Friedman has had a wealth of experience of coaching as well. During the 2022-23 season, he served as the Associate Head Coach of the Mercer Chiefs in the NCDC. In their inaugural season, Justin helped lead the Chiefs to a playoff berth and a first round series win. He has also coached at the U16 and U18 levels with the New Jersey Junior Titans U16 and U18 teams.

The Capitols are eagerly looking forward to the 2023-24 season, with the addition of Justin Friedman expected to bolster the team's scouting and player development initiatives. With his comprehensive understanding of the game and an unwavering dedication to excellence, Friedman's appointment signifies a significant step towards the Capitols' continued pursuit of excellence within the USHL.
