Madison Capitols News Release

The Capitols are proud to announce that the team has acquired James Hong from the Waterloo Black hawks in exchange for defenseman NIck Fascia and future considerations. This trade marks an exciting addition to the roster, strengthening Madison's offensive lineup for the upcoming season.

James Hong, a native of Irvine, California, brings a wealth of talent and experience to the Capitols. The forward with roots in South Korea has played in two full seasons with Waterloo after being selected third overall in the 2020 USHL Phase I Draft, 43rd overall. In those two seasons, Hong has registered 49 points in 118 games played. Additionally, Hong has played in nine playoff games with one point.

"We are thrilled to welcome James Hong to the Capitols organization," said Head Coach and General Manager Andy Brandt. "His impressive experience and proven track record in the league make him an invaluable addition to our team. With his offensive skill and veteran presence, we believe Hong will bring a new level of competitiveness to our roster. We are excited to see him contribute to our success on the ice and help lead our team toward our goals."

In exchange for Hong, the Capitols have traded defenseman Nick Fascia to the Waterloo Black Hawks. Fascia, a 2021 Phase I 1st Round draft pick, spent the second half of the 2022-23 season out of the lineup due to injury. In 31 games, Fascia recorded four points including one goal. The team extends its appreciation to Fascia for his contributions and wishes him success in his future endeavors with Waterloo.

The acquisition of James Hong represents the Capitols commitment to building a competitive team for the upcoming season. The Capitols organization looks forward to integrating Hong into their roster and capitalizing on his talents. With this trade, the team continues to aim to provide an exhilarating experience for the fans within the Madison hockey community.

Hong is set to make his presence known as he joins the Capitols for their main camp, taking place from June 14-18. This eagerly anticipated event will bring together the team's established players and top prospects who will be showcasing their skills and vying for roster spots. Fans will have their first opportunity to watch James and the Capitols in action on Saturday night during the highly anticipated Main Camp All Star Game, starting at 7 pm. The annual all-star game is open to the public.
