
'Canes Recall Zach Boychuk from Charlotte

RALEIGH, NC - Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled forward Zach Boychuk from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). The Hurricanes have placed forward Zac Dalpe (lower-body injury) on injured reserve, retroactive to Oct. 14.
Boychuk, 22, has netted four goals and earned two assists (6 points) in seven games with the Checkers this season. The Airdrie, Alb., native has skated in 56 career NHL games with Carolina, totaling seven goals, nine assists (16 points) and six penalty minutes. Drafted by the Hurricanes in the first round, 14th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Boychuk (5'10", 185 lbs.) has played 121 career AHL games with Albany and Charlotte, earning 108 points (41g, 67a).
