Lethbridge Hurricanes News Release

Lethbridge, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes will be sporting a new look Wednesday, November 9th when they host the Seattle Thunderbirds. The organization has been working with the Canadian Armed Forces to come up with a military-inspired jersey for the players to wear on their "Military Appreciation" night.

Glenn Miller, Service Officer with General Stewart Branch #4 was on hand at the Lethbridge Cenotaph Tuesday as a replica of the jersey was revealed. Miller talked of the importance of Junior Hockey and its ties to the military. The backdrop of the Cenotaph was chosen because it records the names of the 262 soldiers from the Lethbridge area who died during World War I.

Details of the red camouflage jersey include: a yellow "Support our Troops" ribbon on one sleeve and the Maple Leaf on the other. The stars that are on the current Hurricanes jersey have also been replaced with the Maple Leaf. On November 3rd the jersey's will go up for auction on our website www.hurricanesauction.com and they can be bid on until 5pm on November 14th. Net proceeds from the jersey auction will be split between the Poppy Fund and a designated military initiative to help with the establishment of the local military museum.
