Asheville Tourists News Release

ASHEVILLE - Asheville Tourists' manager Robinson Cancel picked up his 100th career win as a professional baseball manager on Friday night when the Tourists earned a 5-4 win over the Greenville Drive. Robinson is in his third year as a manager and first in full-season ball.

Cancel managed the GCL Braves in 2015 and the Danville Braves in 2016. During those two stints, Robinson recorded 58 victories. Friday night's win was the Tourists 42nd of the season; giving Asheville's skipper 100 wins for his career.

The first-year head man for Asheville was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 16th round of the 1994 draft. He spent seven seasons with the Brewers organization including a stint in the Major Leagues in 1999. Robinson also appeared in Major League games as a player with the New York Mets (2008-09) and the Houston Astros (2011).

Cancel is only the fourth manager for the Asheville Tourists since the 1999 season. The other three are Joe Mikulik, Freddie Ocasio, and Warren Schaeffer. Robinson's 42 victories in Asheville place him 47th all-time on the Asheville Tourists Managerial Wins list.

The Tourists received a two-run RBI double from Sean Bouchard in the bottom of the sixth inning to go ahead of the Drive for good. The first place Asheville Tourists are back in action on Saturday night at 6:05pm.
