Bullpen Strong, Ramos Extends Scoreless Streak on Friday

COLUMBIA, SC - The Fireflies fell to Augusta on Friday night, 5-3, but one impressive streak was extended at Spirit Communications Park. Reliever Darwin Ramos hurled 1.2 shut-out frames and stretched his scoreless-inning streak to 13.2 IP. The series between Columbia and Augusta is tied at one game apiece.

Ramos did not allow hit after he was called upon out of the bullpen in the seventh. Joshua Payne was also impressive out of the bullpen and logged a scoreless ninth inning.

Catcher Scott Manea singled and scored a run on Friday. Manea is now hitting a team-best .316 in the month of July.

The Fireflies host the GreenJackets again on Saturday at 6:05 ET. Right-hander Marcel Renteria (2-1, 5.30) starts for Columbia and squares off against Augusta's righty Aaron Phillips (3-5, 4.66).
