
Canaries suspended by rain

Sioux Falls Canaries News Release
Sioux Falls, SD - The first game of the series between the Canaries and St. Paul Saints was suspended after four complete innings due to rain. At the time the game was suspended the Saints led, 6-5.
Trailing by a run in the bottom of the first inning, the Canaries got on the board when Justin Schuda hit a bases loaded double to score Chad Hermansen and Edgard Clemente to put the Canaries ahead, 2-1. Newcomer Dennis Anderson followed with a sacrifice fly to score Abner Arroyo for a 3-1 lead.
In the top of the second, Saints right fielder Tom Brice hit a two-run home run tying the game, 3-3.
Arroyo put the Canaries ahead in the bottom of the third, hitting his second home run of the season, a two-run shot, for a 5-3 lead.
The Saints went ahead in the top of the fifth when Josh Renick doubled to drive in Rob Fischer and Jeremy Frost. Victor Rodriguez followed with a single scoring Renickfor the 6-5 lead.
The Canaries and Saints will resume the game on Wednesday night at 6:05 p.m. The second game in the series will follow and be a scheduled seven-inning game.
