Wichita, KS - The Sioux Falls Canaries (4-3) were shutout 3-0 by the Wichita Wingnuts (2-6) on Monday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. J.D. Reininger went 3-for-3, recording half of the Canaries hits.

The Wingnuts drew first blood in the second inning. Dustan Mohr opened the inning with a single to centerfield that was misplayed by Cory Harris. The error by Harris allowed Mohr to third base, and a wild pitch by Canaries starter Travis Kane brought in Mohr for a 1-0 Wichita lead.

Wichita extended their lead in the sixth inning. Greg Porter singled and stole second base before scoring on a single by Mohr. Porter's run put the Wingnuts ahead by a pair, 2-0.

The Wingnuts tacked on one final run in the eighth. With two outs, Nick Blasi singled and raced home on a triple by Porter. Porter's 42nd RBI of the season sealed the 3-0 final.

Adam Cowart (5-2) pitched seven shutout innings, allowing just six hits while striking out four, to get his second win against the Canaries this season. Joe D'Alessandro pitched a perfect ninth inning for his second save. Travis Kane was saddled with the loss, throwing the complete game and allowing three runs, two earned, on eight hits.

The Canaries and Wingnuts continue the four-game series on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. The Birds return to Sioux Falls Stadium on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. for a series opener with the Sioux City Explorers. The game will be DAV Night featuring a Team Card Set Giveaway and Friday Night Fireworks presented by Sanford Health.
