Canaries Seek Host Families For The Summer

SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Canaries are in need of host families for the 2008 season. For fans that haven't hosted a player in the past, this is a fantastic opportunity to experience hometown minor league baseball at its best.
"Having great host families helps minor league teams like the Canaries connect to the community on a deeper level," said Canaries Manager Steve Shirley. "Families that get involved get create a long-lasting bond with the players they host."
Potential host families will be asked to house players from the time they arrive in late April until the end of the Canaries season in late August/early September. The Canaries play a total of 96 games (48 at home, 48 on the road) during the 2007 season. The average age of a Canaries player is 25 years old.
Each host family is given $100 in Canaries Cash each month to use on concessions and merchandise at the Birdcage. To inquire about becoming a Host Family please contact the Canaries by phone at (605) 333-0179 or by e-mail at info@canariesbaseball.com.
The Sioux Falls Canaries will open the 2008 American Association season on May 8 with a visit to the defending champion Fort Worth Cats. The Canaries home opener is on Tuesday, May 13, when the club will host the Pensacola Pelicans in their "Season Premier" featuring a post-game fireworks display presented by First PREMIER Bank and PREMIER Bankcard.
