
AirHogs Name Royce Holder Bench Coach

Grand Prairie, Texas - The Grand Prairie AirHogs of the American Association have named Royce Holder as their bench coach for the 2008 season.
Before coming to the AirHogs, Holder spent the 2007 season as the manager for the Texas Heat of the Continental Baseball League. In his first season with the club, the Heat finished in second place and advanced to the playoffs. He coached the Fort Worth Drillers in 2006, a select baseball 16-and-under team. Holder also spent the 2006 season helping to coach an "Americas Baseball Camp" in Argyle, Texas. During the 2005 campaign, he worked in the Central League as the hitting coach for the Coastal Bend Aviators.
Holder had success playing softball as a major list player at the USSSA level for 12 years from 1981 to 1992. He also coached and played in the Dallas/Fort Worth NABA Baseball 18 and over division. His teams won three state championships from 1994 to 1999.
The Fort Worth, Texas, native attended Texas Wesleyan College, where he played for a team ranked #3 in the NAIA in 1976. He is a graduate of Western Hills High School in Fort Worth.
"After taking a tour of the new ballpark, I am convinced that the fans are going to enjoy watching the games there," said Holder. "I am looking forward to working alongside Pete Incaviglia to bring a championship to Grand Prairie."
The Grand Prairie AirHogs' inaugural American Association season starts on May 8, 2008, with the home opener on Friday, May 16, against the Wichita Wingnuts at the club's brand-new stadium located next to Lone Star Park.
